This June, Ocean Optics celebrates an incredible milestone – the 10 year anniversary of opening our doors! And while the business begins a new decade, I am also starting a new chapter in life and have announced my retirement from private practice. While this is the right decision for my family and exciting news for my husband and children, it is not easy news to share with you.
It is difficult, if not impossible, to sum up the feelings I have for my patients and my staff. I have been blessed with an amazing experience building a successful practice – and it is because of you and so many other wonderful patients.
Ocean Optics has been and always will be a special part of my life, and treating patients has always been a passion for me – I will greatly miss that. As I’ve navigated this process, it’s been crucial to me to find someone to not only fill my shoes and take care of our patients and staff, but also to continue to improve the ability to care for and serve our patients. I needed to find a truly special person in order to feel comfortable and confident in my decision. Fortunately, I’ve found an incredible doctor and person that has made this decision an easy one for me.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dr. Kandace Haines is replacing me. Effective immediately, she is the business owner and doctor at Ocean Optics. Many of you already know Dr. Haines from the time she worked at our office for several months during my maternity leave. We received wonderful feedback from our patients that saw her, and she and I have remained close. For those of you who haven’t met her yet, she is a highly competent doctor and will serve you and your family with the same passion, personality and professionalism that you’ve come to expect at Ocean Optics.
Dr. Haines has years of private practice experience and graduated at the top of her class from Nova Southeastern University, just as I did. In fact, she furthered her education with a residency in contact lenses. She enjoys seeing children and is interested in vision therapy. She has a one year old at home, so she is accustomed to and very patient with children. She and her husband, Ryan, are genuinely good and friendly people who care about others and our community. They have gone to school, lived and worked in the area for years and are excited for this next chapter in their lives.
Your records will remain at Ocean Optics, and for those of you that haven’t already seen Dr. Haines, she will be studying your records thoroughly before your first visit with her. I know she is genuinely interested in getting to know you, and I will continue to be available throughout this transition to ensure there is a seamless transfer of knowledge about each patient, including their unique history and current treatment plans.
My staff and I are excited to support Dr. Haines and welcome her to Ocean Optics. I know you’ll have the same great experience with her that you’ve had with me – your continued support is sincerely appreciated during this time of transition.
